Call to Action for Youth Communities

We are calling on youth communities in Massachusetts to adopt a Resolution urging Governor Healey to stop private jet expansion at Massport-owned Hanscom airport or anywhere.  (See already adopted Resolutions above.)

Why should your Youth Community take this action?

  • Private jets are the most polluting form of travel per passenger for their carbon footprint.

  • Private jet expansion deepens inequality. It widens the gap between wealthy elites and the rest of us. (See Oxfam study: Carbon Inequality Kills)

  • Building more private jet hangars directly undermines Massachusetts’ efforts to cut emissions and move toward a sustainable future.

Youth communities across Massachusetts are encouraged to adopt this Youth Resolution which is anchored in the need to take action and preserve our collective future on this planet.  By taking this action, your youth community will help build continuing momentum and amplify our message to Governor Healey to stop this indefensible plan. Students for Environmental Action pass Stop Private Jet Expansion resolution, 4/21/26
“On March 2, Students for Environmental Action formally passed the Stop Private Jet Expansion resolution, marking a significant escalation in student-led activism regarding pressing environmental concerns…SEA at Brandeis is the first youth-led group in the state to adopt an official petition against private jet…growth.

“If Governor Healey acts on the petition and moves to halt Hanscom’s project, it would be a major victory for environmental activism…For student activists, it would reinforce the growing role of youth voices in shaping environmental decision-making at the state level.”

The resolution, in part, reads: “We oppose systems that prioritize profit and luxury over people and the planet – including projects like private jet expansion that deepen inequality and accelerate climate destruction.”
