Emails to Governor Healey can only be sent via an online email form on her website (rather than to an email address). The instructions below will help you navigate between the Governor’s online form and your email program.

1. Open your email program to write an email to Governor Maura Healey.

2. Build a  letter using key points from the box below and create a subject line.

3. While keeping your email program open, click here to open a form to email the Governor. Under Table of Contents please choose "email the Governor using this form".

4. Provide your name and contact information, then copy and paste your draft letter into the "Comments" section of the form. Keep your own email program open for step 6.

Paragraph 3:  Explain your concerns by using 1 or more of the points below.  Please focus your concerns on the climate impacts of the private jet expansion the Governor is in the best position to act on it.

I am writing with concerns about the proposed private jet hangar expansion at Hanscom Field. 

• Private jets are the worst form of travel per passenger in terms of carbon emissions. 

• Private jets produce 14 times more pollution than commercial planes, on a per passenger basis & 50x more than trains.

• Massport’s proposal to dramatically increase private jet capacity will have devastating climate impacts. 

• If the plan goes forward, private jet emissions from Hanscom alone could negate up to 70% of the climate benefits from solar PV ever installed in Massachusetts.*

• Private jet travel is a privilege for the few at the expense of many. 

• Eighty percent of the world's population has never been on a plane, yet they bear the brunt of climate change.

• Massport’s expansion plan goes against everything we are working for in Massachusetts and threatens our ability to meet our climate goals.

• Why should private luxury travel for a few be allowed to expand in the midst of a climate emergency?

• Why should Massport be allowed to expand its infrastructure at Hanscom for the most polluting form of travel for its carbon footprint, while the rest of Massachusetts is working arduously to reduce its carbon emissions to help get the Climate Crisis under control?

Paragraph 4: End with a clear ask 

… Please do everything in your powers to stop the massive private jet hangar expansion at Hanscom Field or anywhere.

… Use your power to halt plans to expand private jet capacity and infrastructure at Hanscom or anywhere in Massachusetts.

… Please take a clear public stand against expanding private jet travel or infrastructure anywhere in Massachusetts. This an issue of environmental justice. 

… Please hold the air travel sector accountable for achieving carbon reductions, as is required of other economic sectors.
