- NEWS FLASH! We have an exciting announcement in the coming days exclusively on social media, so follow us and keep your eyes peeled!
Together we’re already making an impact—
- Triggered by our hugely successful Oct 2nd State House Rally and the extensive media coverage it generated, the business aviation industry felt compelled to publish a series of propaganda-based letters and stories in their defense.
- Your letters and phone calls to Governor Healey & Climate Chief Hoffer are making an impact. For the first time, an MA climate report included explicit language about aviation emissions and the need for Massport to work on dropping commercial airline short-hop flights between destinations where rail options already exist.
- In response to our mounting opposition, Massport and the developers:
- have repeatedly postponed their next report to MEPA (from September to fall and now winter)
- are now talking about reducing their expansion from 27 to 17 hangars at Hanscom. NOTE: This reduction is irrelevant to our goal of stopping the expansion altogether.
What's clear is: we are putting Massport and private developers on the backfoot.

- We're now up to 12,512 petition signatures–2,000 more since our Oct 2nd Rally! Please sign the petition if you haven't already and continue to circulate so we can reach 15,000!
- Our coalition has grown to a resounding 59 state and local partner organizations!

- Municipal Campaign: Our soon-to-be-launched municipal campaign will be asking towns & cities across Massachusetts to sign a resolution urging Governor Healey to stop private jet expansion at Hanscom or anywhere.
- Are you interested in moving this forward in your town or city, or in learning more about the campaign? Email muni@stopprivatejetexpansion.org.
- Your public comments on the developers' next draft environmental impact report (DEIR) will be essential!
- Timeline: The DEIR is expected to be submitted to MEPA possibly this month. A 4-week public comment period will follow–and we'll need to inundate MEPA with our responses as Governor Healey and our legislators will be watching this process closely. We'll keep you posted! Our campaign is booming, but so are our costs.
As more and more people get involved across the state, we need to print more campaign materials and pay for staff hours in addition to top of the line environment research.
