9/24/2023 Action Alert

Dear Friends & Colleagues,
Please share this email widely–and soon–with your networks.

Next Monday, Oct 2nd 11am to 1pm!

PUBLIC RALLY to Stop Private Jet Expansion

at Hanscom or Anywhere

Meet at Boston State House steps, 24 Beacon Street

Please do your best to attend–and bring your friends & neighbors!

Attending the rally is one of the best ways you can help right now. Numbers matter when we need to demonstrate that the will of citizens is to STOP this and any other private jet expansion to protect the climate.

Following the outside portion of the rally, where we will hear remarks from Senator Barrett and others, we will deliver our (now more than!) 10,000 petition signatures to Governor Healey by her office with a message that: Massport’s plans are a direct and immediate threat to Massachusetts efforts to combat climate change–and we citizens look to her to show bold climate leadership by using her influence with Massport to cancel the project.

With our presence and numbers, we will show Governor Healey–and our state legislators–that she has broad grassroots support for stopping the private jet expansion at Hanscom or anywhere.

We look forward to seeing you at the State House next Monday!

State Senator Mike Barrett, 9/16/22–

“In February, I organized the first group pushback against the agency and its interest in the project. I have a different vision for Massport and, by extension, for state government. I want to see Massachusetts lead the country in greening aviation. As a practical matter, this starts by stopping the hangars.”

State Representative Carmine Gentile, 9/4/23

“It’s very important that people voice their opposition to the proposed 27 new private jet hangars AND continuation of the current level of private jet use in the U.S. locally, to the Governor and State legislators, and to our terrific Congressional delegation…”

“It is essential that we view all actions through a climate lens if we are to be successful in arresting the increase in global temperatures…

Private jet expansion is a direct and immediate threat to Mass. climate goals

If the proposed expansion goes forward, private jet emissions from Hanscom alone could cancel up to 70% of the climate benefits of all the solar PV ever installed in Massachusetts.

Private luxury jet expansion

a luxury our climate can't afford.

Thank you for your continued support!

In Solidarity,
Stop Private Jet Expansion at Hanscom or Anywhere
